Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

  • How long have you been a photographer?

I’ve had a digital camera in my hand for 13+ years but started capturing humans in a professional capacity in 2020. I started shooting film personal and professionally in 2021/ Since then I have captured weddings, portraits, and couples and families!

  • Where are you based out of?

I’m based out of Western Washington! I moved here in the 3rd grade and have been in love with the beauty of the west coast ever since.

  • How many photos do we get?

I promise in my contract 50 photos per hour. This applies to weddings, portraits, engagements, elopements, families and anything else! But I will never cutoff the number of images that I will deliver, my goal is to give you as many images that I possibily can from our time together and that is very often more than 50 images per hour.

  • How long will it take to get my photos back?

For shoots, typically 2-4 weeks and weddings are usually around 6 weeks. I always ensure that every image is taken care of by me personally for anything it needs.

Turnaround time is dependent on several factors; how busy I am, how many shoots I have during that season, travel and my film lab. Due to the nature of film, and sending it across the country at times to get developed and scanned this has caused delays in the past, but I can put a rush on your film with my lab during the busy months at an additional cost to you.

  • Do you travel?

Yes! I travel and have different photo packages for local, west coast, east coast and international travel.

  • How do you charge for travel?

Travel is all included in the package price, it will be clearly marked in my pricing guide and is location dependent.

  • Do you sell prints or albums?

Yes! In fact, every single package I offer includes prints that I make. I would be honored and ecstatic if you decided to order prints through me after your shoot! I also can do custom framing for you as well at an additional cost.

I do also offer albums and canvas prints and those are outsourced to a lab I trust to make art for my home.

I also sell prints of my personal work here!

  • Am I allowed to print my photos myself?

Yes, you are given printing rights. But I really would encourage ordering prints through me, not only is every print carefully done by me and often in includes test prints to get the colors exactly right, I have also tested many many different papers and the difference is worth it, I promise you.

  • What do I wear?

I have a guide for what to wear to help and am always available to assist with outfit planning or questions!

  • Why do you shoot film?

I could talk for hours how much film has brought to my style and process for photography. But for now, I’ll say that film brings a slowness and intentionality to the images that I create. Every shot counts with film.

  • Do you give RAW unedited images?

No. After I finish the shoot, that’s only halfway done with the images. I will never leave any photos out that you’ll want/need, and if you feel as if you are missing a photo, just let me know, and I am happy to look for it for you and send it over!

  • Do you offer touch-ups? (e.g. pimples, wrinkles, stretch marks, etc.)

My philosophy is that I will edit anything out that would be gone in two weeks (pimples, bruise, etc.), unless you want me to keep it in, just let me know. Anything other than that, I do not offer touch-ups. Before involving a camera, if you are self conscious of something and let me know, I can keep that in mind while posing you.

  • What if we need to cancel/reschedule our wedding/shoot?

If you put a deposit down, then that is non-refundable and if for some reason you are needing to move your date, please let me know as soon as possible. I may be able to move your date, but I cannot guarantee that my calendar will be open.

  • What if the weather is not what we envisioned?

I believe in embracing whatever the weather does, it will always result in beautiful and unique photos. If the weather is too harsh, that is would be a bad time at our shoot or would ruin my gear, I can reschedule.

  • Can I post your images on my social media?

Yes! But do not alter or edit any of the photos I deliver when you do, please. Also tag me @alishajoanphoto !

  • Can I bring my dog?

Yes! I have a dog and would love to capture them with you. Keep in mind that you may not want them in all the photos, so they will need to hangout at the car or with another human during that time.

  • How is location determined?

We talk about that together! If you have a location in mind, great! If you don’t, also great! If you are unsure of a location, but know what kind of vibe you are going for, I can scout us out a location for us to use.
